Sometimes its hard to stick to the same routine and enjoy it ,it feels like everyday is repeating itself in the same manner. And no matter how early we wake up or no matter how good of a workout we do on a daily basis we feel empty knowing it is the same old activity we have been doing since weeks or months or even days. But on the other hand we have goals and ambitions which require us to be tough for a while and do things which we do not enjoy, so in order to acheive that some people repeat every little detail of a seemingly “perfect” routine ignoring the fact that our success does not come from doing things we have already mastered but it comes from doing things that are new to us.

Are you limiting yourself?
Very often our brains tend to limit us. usually people who doubt themselves or are being doubted by others have a “limiting” mindset. We adapt to certain activities, repeat them, doubt ourselves, search for instant results and when we dont see any instant changes it makes us think that the task we are doing on a daily basis is boring because it gives us nothing in return.
Gamify your life
Gamifying something means “to apply typical elements of game playing (e.g. point scoring, competition with others, rules of play) to (an activity).”
Now you dont have to actually turn your whole life into a game, but convert activities you struggle with into small and acheivable levels.
For example: (you have a goal to start reading daily)
Level 1: for the first week try reading 5 pages daily.
Level 2: for the next week try to annotate/take notes and research unknown terms of the book along with reading it.
Level 3: slowly increase the number of pages you read daily along with annotating it
Level 4: try to finish the book and write a summary in your own words.
Level 4 is the ultimate goal but you have broken it down into smaller goals which makes the process enjoyable. This is also a way to practice delayed gratifictaion.
Furthermore the day you miss is the day you break your streak so as a penalty you can either start over or continue by making the next levels harder.
~Romanticize~
Have you ever wondered how something as simple as washing the dishes seems so majestic and enjoyable when cinderella does it but you feel awful at the sight of so many dishes lying on the counters and in the sink?
Its called romanticism.
“deal with or describe in an idealized or unrealistic fashion; make (something) seem better or more appealing than it really is.”
It sounds stupid but it actually works. Studies show that happiness does not come from big acheivements but many happy people are happy because they simply enjoy their everyday life and they find happiness in the little things.
To be like all the happy and chill people you see, you also act like the main character of your life think of yourself as a book character notice the little details of a situation. And try to be happy about them. Romanticize your routines and act like a book is being written on your life. Journaling also helps alot to evaluate your situations and make you realize your life isnt as boring as you think it is.
Here are some other benefits of journaling I shared
